Hey Everybody!!

Here are two great opportunities coming up. The first is a free conference call with Jon Young and Dr. Randall Eaton on The Sacred Hunt (a rite of passage all around the world, but also a tool for naturalist study and a metaphor for personal growth). The second is a 5-day event on the same topic being held at Fox Circle Farm in San Gregorio, CA April 18-23rd. I have been to previous events there with Jon Young and can recommend them; I'm also happy to talk to you more about it.

Here's the email I got from Andrew Ford, who facilitates the Wildlore program:

Secrets of the Sacred Hunt Revealed!

Here's your chance to register now for the time free conference call
April 2nd 5:30pm Pacific featuring Jon Young a naturalist on the leading
edge of cultural mentoring techniques and Dr Randall Eaton a foremost
authority on native rites of passage. Email a request for call details to
freeconferencecall@WildLore.com to receive instructions for joining the
call. Together we'll explore the relationship between the sacred hunt and
the development of extraordinary abilities within native peoples. This
conversation is a prelude to WildLore's Sacred Hunt Principles event
featuring:

. Archery
Test your current skills or develop new abilities with guided instruction
and tournaments.

. Extrasensory Tracking
Discover a tracking style used by hunting cultures to find game without
following footprints.

. The Secret Wilderness Language
Live animals are employed in teaching an understanding of this language
that will enable you to know where the animals are and where they're
going.

. Animal Mimicry and Medicine Bundles These skills are key to wilderness
skills mastery demonstrated by the Bushman and other hunting cultures.

. Camouflage Strategies Employ these processes to get close enough to
touch wild animals.

. Stalking Routines
Use the principles of stealth to move invisibly within your surroundings.

. Authentic Native Rituals
Once darkness falls, join in ancient rituals by the light of the fire.

"The future for us lies in recovering 'first things"- Lao Tzu

An ancient legend among the Lakota (Sioux) tells of a time when the moon
was like the earth, but that when the people abandoned their sacred rituals
the energy of their world vanished. According to Lakota Medicine Man John
La Fontaine, before the arrival of the white man, Lakota hunters didn't
need the arts of tracking and stalking. Under the guidance of the medicine
man the hunter would undergo spiritual preparation to ask permission for
the hunt. Once granted the hunter with pure heart and mind would merely
need to wait with faith and patience upon the hunting grounds until the
animal presented itself. With a look the animal would signal to the hunter
its readiness. The hunter received one shot with bow and arrow. Launching a spirit arrow from the heart always succeeded.

**Supercharge your naturalist development**

Are you sometimes frustrated by the slowness in developing awareness and
wilderness skills? Some skills just take time to hone, but another cause
may have little to do with you personally. After studying the teaching
traditions of native peoples for his entire adult life, Jon Young has
recently revealed that there is a major missing element in modern society
in the cultivation of nature awareness. The single most important factor

in achieving mastery in wilderness skill is the need to survive! Gnawing
hunger drove indigenous peoples to great lengths to succeed and propelled
their skill development at an astounding rate.

Jon's decades of research has yielded an intimate understanding of
native teaching processes used to convey a vast knowledge of place which he is now blending with the ancient traditions of the Sacred Hunt extensively
studied by Dr. Randall Eaton. The combination of these approaches affords
the potential to match or surpass the accomplishments of native masters
through the integration of modern approaches with native educational
styles. These dynamic individuals and their wealth of knowledge are united
in WildLore's event, "Sacred Hunt Principles". Jon Young describes
the Sacred Hunt as the absolute best way to develop extraordinary outdoor
skills in the shortest possible time. In Jon's experienced opinion the
Sacred Hunt supplies the missing component in rapid naturalist development
and serves as a metaphor for life's journey utilizing the same operating
system for the discovery of our individual gifts.

By taking his education as far as he could in academia, Dr. Eaton then
immersed himself in the world of indigenous peoples that is so
distinctively different from modern civilization. His life story sounds
like a screenplay for an Indiana Jones movie having been indoctrinated

into the Lakota spiritual tradition and endured Mayan initiation rites

entailing 7 challenging stages . During his adventures he lived in parts of the

world that most only fantasize about.

**The Sacred Hunt is a powerful ritual that embraces life by descending into it.**

The elements of the sacred hunt create a mystical union with the landscape
resulting from the perception of the surroundings through the awareness of
the animal including wind direction, available cover, and terrain
conditions. In contrast the hiker takes in the environment with sweeping
glances without recognizing the dynamic qualities of the countryside in

the way of animals always alert to danger. Through the power of the sacred

hunt the illusions of civilization are erased and the virtues of the animal are
raised to a level of equality with humanity. What takes most years to learn is that attitude and intention produce profound results upon an outcome.
This is the foundation of ethical reciprocity between humanity and the
animal kingdom.

**Releasing the wild within offers rewards of great fortune and the
discovery of our own gifts. **

Native peoples the world over recognize that within the life of the
individual we die many deaths. This was their way of recognizing the many
stages in growth and development that in our culture have come to be
described as: birth, terrible twos, teenage angst, finding oneself, mid
life crises, and the decline of old age. Revitalize this perspective with
the indigenous model for maturation. For thousands of years tribal peoples
have incorporated various elaborate and sometimes deadly forms of
initiation to facilitate the transition in life stages. Tribal peoples
embrace transition with enthusiasm unleashing holy terror in the form of
secret rituals focusing the lightness and darkness of the tribes collective
psyche containing all the mystery of their ancient legends.
